Reminders & limits

The honest truth about browser reminders.

Browsers can fire a reminder while a tab or installed PWA is open. They cannot reliably do it when the browser is closed. The mobile app handles this properly.

What the browser tool does

  • Schedules hourly rounds inside your chosen workday window.
  • Fires a browser notification on the hour — while the tab or installed PWA is open.
  • Updates the active round card to show a 10-minute done window.
  • Marks the round missed automatically if you don't tap Done.

What the browser tool can't reliably do

  • Fire a reminder when the browser is closed.
  • Fire a reminder when the phone screen is off for long periods.
  • Fire a reminder after the phone aggressively kills background tabs.

This is not a bug in our tool — it's how browsers behave across Android, iOS, and desktop. Anyone claiming otherwise for a pure web app is being imprecise.

How to enable browser reminders

  1. Open the browser tool at /app/.
  2. Tap Enable on the reminders banner.
  3. When the browser asks permission, tap Allow.

Improve reliability without the mobile app

  1. Install as a home-screen app. On Android Chrome: tap the install prompt. On iOS Safari: Share → Add to Home Screen.
  2. Leave the installed PWA or tab running during your workday.
  3. Don't aggressively close background apps on mobile.

The reliable path

If you want hourly reminders that fire on your phone regardless of whether a browser is open, use the mobile app. That's what it's built for.

FAQ

Why doesn't the browser just do this?

Browsers throttle timers aggressively on mobile to save battery. Native apps can schedule local notifications that survive those constraints.

Do I need to grant permission every session?

No. Once granted, it persists for that site on that browser. You can revoke it from your browser's site settings.

Does the tool send my data anywhere?

No. Everything is stored locally on this device.
